Physical therapy uses exercise and such physical agents as heat, light, water, and
massage to treat certain physical disabilities.
Relieving Pain & Restoring Mobility and Function:
Holzer Clinic's Physical Therapists work to restore independence to patients who have
suffered injury, accident, or illness. Under the supervision of the Clinic medical staff,
our Licensed Physical Therapists (PTs) offer a comprehensive program of pain relief, motion
restoration, and strength and function enhancement. Typically, Physical Therapy is prescribed
by a physician following surgery, injury, or illness. PTs also offer education about proper
body mechanics as a way for companies to decrease on-the-job injury and maximize employee
productivity.
Holzer Clinic's PTs have the training and experience necessary to help patients achieve
active, productive lives. Physicians and PTs work together to evaluate patients and determine
what procedures are needed at what intervals. At Holzer Clinic, we use a wide range of non-
medication modalities to relieve pain. Commonly applied procedures include heat and ice packs,
whirlpool and paraffin baths, ultrasound, diathermy, electrical stimulation, Transcutaneous
Electrical Nerve Stimulator (TENS), and traction.
The most common treatment is an individually designed, closely monitored program of physical
exercise to restore muscle strength and endurance, enhance range of motion, and generate overall
good health.
Holzer Clinic's newly renovated Occupational Health, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center
is equipped with sophisticated exercise equipment designed to help build strength and endurance.
Physical Therapy programs may involve computer-controlled isokinetic and isoenertial machines,
cycle ergometers, upper-body ergometers, rowing machines, Nautilus, and lifting equipment.
