The 2nd annual Holzer Heart 5k Run/Walk and 10k Run raised $3,000
for the local American Red Cross.

June 9, 2010, Gallipolis - The 2nd annual Holzer Heart 5k Run/Walk and 10k
Run was held in downtown Gallipolis, Ohio, Saturday, April 24, 2010. The event brought over 250
participants including cardiac surviving patients, students, and the public, both locally and from
out of town. Each year the race draws a bigger crowd and more teams participating. A kid’s fun
run was also held prior to the 5K. Awards and recognition were given to several of the different
age group winners. Each cardiac survivor participating is also recognized at the event. For a list

This year, we had the privilege and honor to have hometown hero, Erin Nehus run in the event.
Erin is a contender for the 2012 United States Olympic Team, where the summer games will be held
in London. Erin was a track star for Gallia Academy High School, as well as champion runner at
the collegiate level. She won numerous state track titles for Ohio. She has worked as a Physical
Therapist for the past 2 years and has been training full time as an Elite Runner.
All proceeds from the race were given to the local American Red Cross. The annual Holzer Heart
Run/Walk was able to donate $3,000 to our local unit.
