Holzer Clinic Sports Medicine
GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY!

April 7, 2010, Gallipolis - Dr. Kelly Roush, Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician and staff, Shaumber Reed, Paula Hill and Melissa Booth hosted an event to help the community get rid of the Winter blues and help them SPRING BACK INTO ACTION at The First Holzer Clinic Beach Party and Singing Idol Competition on Friday, March 26th at the Nazarene Family Life Center. Everyone was given beach attire and sunglasses at the door and had the opportunity to have their picture taken behind a beach scene.  Admission was FREE.

Holzer Clinic Fitness Center provided a booth with information about proper hydration, stretches, weight lifting tips, and aerobic workouts; The Gideons provided New Testament bibles for everyone and Holzer Clinic Sports Med Dept displayed their new FLIPFLOP orthotics and performed computerized scans of people’s feet and gave them a printout of their possible gait problems. FREE Beach food was provided and you could spin the big wheel to win over 100 prizes including a duffle bag from Locker 219, OSU Hawian shirt from Dans of Pomeroy, 1 child pool pass from Gallipolis City Recreation, a free trail ride for two from Rio Valley Stables, 2 Mark McQuire plaques from Rons Trophy, 2 free nights stay at the Hampton Inn, a pool inflatable from Ratliffs Pool, 2 free sets of flipflop orthotics, 40 coffee mugs, 4 sports bags, WII Fit DVD, 25 water bottles, gift bags, local school ball caps, ice pack, moist heating pads, etc from Holzer Clinic Sports Medicine Dept. and much more. 

There were several kiddy games where they won inflatable swords, beach balls, suckers and stuffed monkeys. Holzer staff threw t-shirts into the crowd and of course the main attraction was the Idol Singing Competition. Dr. Roush stated that “She was impressed with the local talent, some kids played the keyboard, played acoustic guitar and some even wrote their own songs”. She states “she is proud of all whom competed as it takes a lot of courage to get up and sing in front of a large crowd.” Judges for the event included Allen Icenhower, Bobby Dean Gordon, Lydia Davis and WBYG’s Tom Payne. Announcer for the event was Doug Adkins from Holzer Clinic Research Dept. and “Bub” Paul Williams performed as the guest entertainer. Black Shirt Entertainment provided the sound system for the event. 

Winners of the Idol Competition include:

Ages 7-15:  1st ($100) Shelby Gerlach, 2nd ($50) Hannah Shafer, 3rd ($25) Chelsey Pelfrey

Ages 16-20:  1st ($100) Adria Stapleton, 2nd ($50) Brittany Sayre, 3rd ($25) Tessa Roach

Age 21 plus:  1st ($100) Travis Halley, 2nd ($50) Pepper Grimes and Becky Wallace (tied)

 Team Song :  1st Courtney Shriver, Shadow Watson, Tiffany Lewis

Team Skit:  1st  Mariah Hineman, Madison Vandaborne, Mikayla Poling, Alyssa Stapleton

Dr. Roush would like to thank The Nazarene Church for use of their facility and thank Reverand Bob Fulton whom closed the event with prayer.
