August 28, 2008, Gallipolis, OH - Please join Holzer Clinic and the Commission on Cancer in congratulating Alice A. Dachowski, MD, General Surgeon at Holzer Clinic for being named a recipient of the Commission on Cancer’s Liaison Physician Outstanding Performance Award for 2007. This is the second year in a row that this distinguished honor has been bestowed upon Dr. Dachowski. She is among only three percent of Cancer Liaison Physicians in the country and only two in Ohio to be recognized by the Commission for her leadership and exceptional cancer care. Only 52 other physicians in the US, representing 22 states, have been chosen to receive this extraordinary award.

The Cancer Liaison Physician Outstanding Performance Award recognizes individuals who go above and beyond the regular scope of their duties. Cancer Liaison Physicians (CLPs) were nominated for excellence in the following area(s):

  • Improving the quality of care delivered at a CoC approved facility
  • Contributing to the Approval status of the Cancer program
  • Exceeding CLP exceptions to strengthen the Cancer program
  • Demonstrating cancer control leadership in the community
  • Serving as a champion and role model for other staff

Cancer Liaison Physicians (CLPs) are charged with the task of spearheading CoC initiatives. They are physician champions—responsible for providing leadership and direction to establish, maintain, and support their facility’s cancer program; improve clinical practice at the local level; and collaborate with local agencies to reduce the burden of cancer in the community. CLPs serve a three-year term with eligibility to serve an unlimited number of terms.
